Alsdorf library: Reading material during the corona-lockdown
Updated: Jan 23
Good news from the Stadtbücherei Alsdorf (city library of Alsdorf): Next to the digital lending platform Onleihe, the Stadtbücherei Alsdorf offers a limited lending service of analogue media from Tuesday 12 January for the duration of the lockdown until 31 January. The library is not accessible for the public due to Land NRW's Corona Schutzverordnung (corona protection regulation) until end of January.
The Alsdorfer Stadtbücherei wants to lend media to its customers even in times of the corona crisis and has come up with an idea to do so. For this purpose, users can order media by phone at 02404/93950 and make an appointment to pick them up. During the phone call, users are asked to provide their name and user number, which can be found under the barcode on their library card.
On collection, the media will be issued at the library’s entrance upon presentation of the library card.
Explained briefly in three steps:
Call +492404/93950 with your media requests and arrange a pick-up date
Only return and pickup of media,
Maintain a distance of two metres

The Stadtbücherei team hopes that this will enable many users to access the library's media and in this way receive reading and listening material again despite the lockdown.
Of course, readers can also continue to make use of the Onleihe service with their library card. The libraries of the OnleiheRegion Aachen offer a wide selection of digital media that customers can use around-the-clock. Their digital media are accessible at any time. These include eBooks, digital newspapers and magazines, audiobooks, and online courses.
Onleihe ensures that library customers can obtain media around-the-clock and wherever they happen to be - all they need is an Internet connection.
