It has now been confirmed: two years after the opening of the #Maastricht branch of Hudson's Bay – the company has stated that all 15 Dutch branches will shut before the end of the year. The company has applied for collective redundancy for all personnel, some 1,400 people - the unions confirmed. #HudsonsBay management is not saying much, only that it is in discussion with shareholders. It was clear shortly after the opening that things were not going well for the Dutch branches. In Maastricht, where the department store took over the old V&D building, the shop stayed relatively empty. The wrong price segement, the wrong target group, the wrong marketing strategy... these were all suggested by shopping experts. Information leaked from a company internal website suggested that management also agreed that they should have targeted the former V&D public. Source: News in English – RTV Maastricht
