Germany: AstraZeneca vaccinations preventatively suspended
Appointments for prioritised occupational groups will be cancelled. Vaccinations for over 80-year-olds are not affected.
The Bundesregierung (Federal Government) has suspended corona vaccinations with AstraZeneca as a precautionary measure based on a recommendation by the Paul-Ehrlich-Institut (PEI). This is due to newly reported cases of thrombosis of the cerebral veins, which occurred in temporal connection with the vaccination.
Also in the StädteRegion Aachen vaccination centre, the AstraZeneca vaccinations were immediately stopped. For the time being, vaccination appointments with AstraZeneca will be suspended or cancelled up to and including next Sunday 21 March 2021. This only affects the Sonderkontingente – prioritised occupational groups.
The following appeal has been made:
Please do not come to the vaccination centre these days, even if you have not yet received a cancellation!
