Due to the fact that several intersections in #Aachen have been deemed dangerous, the Institute of Traffic at RWTH Aachen University is set to conduct a three-year research project to identify crisis points in the city and help prevent accidents. Car drivers, cyclists and pedestrians are being called upon to provide their crucial insights to gain a full overview of traffic danger zones. Since May 2018, Aachen residents have been highlighting risky crossroads and other dangerous traffic sections via the online platform gefahrenstellen.de (dangerous places). Around one thousand locations have already been identified, and the data collecting project is planned to continue until 2022, having already secured nearly 1.5 million euros in subsidies.
