Liège Cité de Noël goes virtual
Ville de Liège finds itself deprived of its Villages, its Ice Rink and its European Circus Festival this year, which usually delight the people of Liège and the residents of the Euregio Meuse-Rhine. In order to preserve the magic of Christmas and to bring a little joy at the end of the year, la Cité de Noël is reinventing itself and exporting a virtual version of the traditional Village de Noël online.
In order to preserve the magic of Christmas, ensure the safety of Liège residents and stimulate local economy and craftsmanship, Elisabeth Fraipont, Alderman of Economic Development and Maggy Yerna, Alderman of Commerce and Ville de Liège came up with a virtual alternative to its usual Christmas market.
Le Village Virtuel Liège Cité de Noël displays a complete list of products and items from many Liègeois crafts and shops that can now be ordered online.
To ensure an eco-friendly delivery process the city partnered with Rayon9, a delivery company operating exclusively on bicycles across the whole city. For the items not available for home delivery, the Conciergerie du Centre-Ville will store gifts for a centralised, fast, and safe pick-up on location.
There is also the chance to win one of four 100% Liège Christmas baskets worth €250 each.
Support local businesses and tradespeople and check out the virtual Christmas village online until 31 December 2020.
