Libraries in Liège reopening 18 January

As a result of the Federal Government's measures to limit the spread of the virus, and from Monday 18 January onwards, it is proposed that the public will be able to borrow and bring back works at the usual times of the sessions in Liège's libraries.


After a period of closure and maintenance, the new portal, which gives members access to the entire catalogue and many online services, is available, as well as new lending software.


Reservations for access to the Espace Public Numérique – EPN (Public Digital Space) or computers are suspended for security reasons and will resume at suitable times from 18 January in strict compliance with health measures.


Regulations for coming in person to the library:

  • come alone (or accompanied by a child under 12 years old);

  • respect of social distances (1.5m);

  • wearing a mask is compulsory;

  • hand disinfection is compulsory at the entrance or at any time necessary;

  • bulky objects and pets are not allowed;

  • five members at a time;

  • visits limited to 20 minutes;

  • any user with symptoms such as cough, cold, difficulty breathing or fever since the previous day must stay at home.


Regulations for using the EPN or computers:

  • reservation is compulsory;

  • strict adherence to the appointment and instructions from staff members is required;

  • wearing a mask is compulsory;

  • hand disinfection is obligatory at the entrance or at any other time necessary;

  • visits limited to 60 minutes;

  • any user with symptoms such as cough, cold, difficulty breathing or fever since the previous day must stay at home;

  • disinfect the workstation upon leaving;

  • Use of the Public Writers' Desk will only take place by appointment.


Borrowing items using Take-Away:

  • To be registered in the library and in order of contribution;

  • The documents must be available in the library. To help you in your choice of documents, we suggest that you consult the online catalogue of libraries;

  • You can book a maximum of ten items;

  • You send an e-mail to your library and communicate:

  • Surname, First name, date of birth,

  • Mobile phone number,

  • Title(s), author(s), file number(s),

  • If possible, reader card number,

  • Those who are unable to communicate by e-mail, can also contact the library during office hours where an appointment will be issued over the phone;

  • Arrive at the chosen site at the date and time indicated and follow the instructions to collect reservations.
