New online portal for newcomers and cross-border commuters in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine

Today the Interreg Euregio Meuse-Rhine project 'youRegion' has launched their new website with support from Region Aachen Zweckverband: www.youregion-emr.eu. The website aims to bundle information and services of the youRegion project partners in five thematic areas: community, travel, study, living and work. The aim is to help newcomers get a foothold in this cross-border region. This includes the labour market, leisure time, language courses and more.

The portal is initially offered in English with the three languages native to the Euregio Meuse-Rhine to follow shortly. In addition, basic information is available in other languages, including Polish, Arabic, Turkish and Chinese.

Heike Xhonneux, Head of GrenzInfoPunkt Aachen-Eurode:

"It is sometimes difficult when you are new. youRegion has made it its mission to help newcomers from neighbouring countries and beyond get started in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine."

With the new portal, youRegion aims to put their 'Welcome Culture' is put into practice, whereby spouses and families of migrant professionals are also considered newcomers. In particular, partners who have travelled with them should be able to continue their careers in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine. The portal is intended to help people find their way around administrative and labour regulations and cross-border life in general. Regulation within one country is already complex. If you work and live across the border, as more than 26,000 cross-border commuters in Euregio Meuse-Rhine do, it can be challenging to find your way around.

The EGTC Euregio Meuse-Rhine is the lead partner of the youRegion Interreg project. The www.youregion-emr.eu portal is largely supported by Stadt Aachen's Newcomer Service, Expat Centre Limburg, Expat Centre Maastricht Region and RWTH Aachen University's Dual-Career Service.
