Overlegcomité / le Comité de concertation gives green light for opening terraces on 8 May
This afternoon, the Comité gave the green light via electronic means for the opening of the terraces as from Saturday 8 May.
The Comité noted that the two conditions that had been set for opening the terraces had been met. By 8 May, the 65+ age group will have reached a vaccination rate of more than 80 percent and the situation in intensive care facilities is better today than a fortnight ago.
The other elements of het Buitenplan / du plan « plein air » will also come into force on 8 May. It concerns the abolition of the curfew. Between midnight and 05:00, there will be a ban on gathering up to three people (or more if members of the same family).
Events, cultural performances and worship services will be able to take place outside with a maximum of 50 people. Amusement parks, professional flea markets and jumble sales will again be allowed, as well as organised outdoor activities for up to 25 people and sports activities without an audience.
The Comité also validated the decision of the Ministers of Education to switch to full-time in-person education for the second and third grades of secondary education from 10 May 2021.
The Comité stresses that keeping schools open remains an essential objective, as it makes a significant contribution to the mental wellbeing of young people.
