RWTH Aachen University invites you to science evening with Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel
Updated: May 6
RWTH Aachen University's anniversary event 'The New Fiction of Good Science – in Need of a Paradigm Shift?!' focuses on the future of universities.
Universities around the world are affected by trends such as digitalisation, necessary sustainability and new workplace technologies. They have immense societal implications – on what and how we learn, and how our educational institutions should be positioned in the future. In addition, the corona crisis is currently showing trends in how the universities’ innovation capacities and the science system’s robustness compare internationally.
The RWTH wants to address this and holds a digital live event on Thursday 6 May, 17:00.
Together with Bundeskanzlerin Dr. Angela Merkel, 20 renowned experts from the science system will discuss the following topics at the science evening 'The New Fiction of Good Science – in Need of a Paradigm Shift?!':
University Mission (Impossible?): From Role Model to Supermodel?
University 4.0: Teaching and Learning in the Era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution
Deep Tech, High Touch: The New University Innovation Ecosystem
The participating scientists are, amongst others:
Katharina Fegebank (Science Senator, Hamburg)
NRW-Ministerpräsident Armin Laschet is the event’s patron.
The science evening was originally planned as the start of a series of events to celebrate the RWTH Aachen University’s 150th anniversary. It was to take place as a face-to-face event in March 2020 in the Vertretung des Landes NRW beim Bund (representation of the federal state NRW in the federal government) in Berlin. Due to the progressing pandemic, the event had to be cancelled.
The science evening will take place in English.
The event can be attended via the RWTH Aachen's live stream.
