Vaccination centres and test streets across Zuid-Limburg (NL) to close during Storm Darcy

GGD Zuid Limburg:

"In the battle against the coronavirus, it is important that our residents have the opportunity to get tested and that the vaccination continues. GGD Zuid Limburg is therefore making preparations to keep the testing and vaccination locations open and accessible.

The snow protocol is ready and we are keeping a close eye on the expected weather conditions. We are taking various measures to guarantee safety and accessibility. Together with the regional authorities, we ensure a safe environment in and around our locations. At the testing and vaccination sites, access roads are kept free of snow and the car parks are well gritted. Extra staff will be brought in to support visitors at the sites where necessary. At the vaccination locations, there is enough space to wait inside, protected and warm. All this at a safe distance from each other.

When Code Rood is in force in a region, testing and vaccination locations are closed. In addition, regions can decide to close a location because of the weather conditions. If a location is closed, people with an appointment are informed by phone or SMS. We keep an eye on the weather conditions, and if they deteriorate, we actively respond to them.

For the time being, the regular opening hours will be applied. The testing and vaccination locations are open from 08:00 to 20:00.

The GGD can well imagine that people with an appointment, while code yellow or orange is in force, prefer not to go out on the streets. People are asked to go out only after careful consideration. Those who feel uncomfortable going to a testing or vaccination location, are asked to contact the GGD call centre where the appointment was made earlier. If, due to long waiting times or other circumstances, the call centre cannot be reached this weekend, the GGD can still be contacted after the weekend. No one should feel compelled to go out on the streets in any way.

At the same time, we want to continue to make sure that people can get tested and that the available vaccines are used as soon as possible. The GGD will use the vaccines that are not used - because fewer people come than planned - at a later date. RIVM will adjust the delivery of the vaccines accordingly.
